Matthew Geiger is an AV-rated trial attorney with 17 years experience protecting business owners and family fortunes in Kansas City courtrooms. Matt’s cases have involved contract disputes, commercial misrepresentations, land development and construction, insurance coverage and indemnity, executive and professional liability, antitrust and unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation and business sale fallout. Matt has built a reputation enforcing high-dollar handshake agreements in land development and renewable energy. A federal jury awarded his clients $14.7 million in 2009 over a handshake to develop military housing in central Kansas. Matt also represents investors seeking control of closely-held companies and entrepreneurs in need of a business divorce. He recaptured a sporting goods company in 2010, obtained a $2 million judgment from a family partnership in 2011, liberated an unhealthy health care practice in 2012, secured a $3.9 million judgment in 2013, and obtained a $1.2 million judgment in 2014 over a failed oil and gas partnership. Super Lawyers Magazine has recognized Matt for these consistent results every year since 2008.

Matt also advises clients, audit committees and other law firms in the discreet management of internal investigations. He has stood by clients facing regulatory, civil and white-collar criminal problems all at the same time. These cases have involved conspiracy, securities fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, tax evasion, price and market collusion, computer crimes, environmental crimes and money laundering allegations. In addition, Matt has represented officers and directors of failed financial institutions in regulatory proceedings brought by the FDIC and OCC.

Matt graduated with distinction in 1998 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served as note editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and competed on the National Trial Team. He graduated cum laude from the University of Oklahoma in 1995. Matt is admitted to practice in the federal, state and appellate courts of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Before starting his own firm, Matt learned his trade at Bryan Cave LLP and Rouse Hendricks German May PC, where he continues to enjoy strong friendships. Outside the courtroom, Matt enjoys coaching basketball and hiking the National Parks with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Grant and Gabrielle.
